Happy New Year! Its almost 2022, a perfect time to share some highlights from ‘the year that was’ and say a heartfelt thank you for all your support.

We’ve achieved a lot together this year – we welcomed our beautiful lion girls, celebrated the hatch of five Galápagos tortoises, the arrival of three Tasmanian devils, as well as a whole host of zoo babies that hatched or were born this year.

And that's a wrap...2021!

Check out our highlights from the 'year that was'!

We continued vital wildlife conservation mahi with our partner organisations across Aotearoa and around the world, as well as provide veterinary care for precious species like kākāpō, sea turtles, kororā (little penguin), pāteke and tūturiwhatu pukunui (New Zealand dotterel) from the wild.

We also recently opened our South East Asia Jungle Track boardwalk so you can explore this area ahead of animals arriving in 2022, and shared the incredible news that Bornean orangutan Melur is pregnant!

We’re looking forward to seeing more of you, our wonderful visitors, this summer. Learn how you can visit the zoo at traffic light orange here.
