Meri Kirihimete 2018! It’s almost Christmas, a perfect time to share some highlights from the past year and say a big THANK YOU for all your support.

This year we welcomed lions Malik and Zulu from Wellington Zoo, emperor tamarins Ladino and Pacino from Perth Zoo, rhinoceros Jamila from Hamilton Zoo, Tasmanian devils Levi and Smiley from the Tasmanian Devil Ambassador Programme! we’ve also seen the pitter patter of flamingo chick feet, little lace monitor hatchlings, nyala calves, spider monkey & cotton top babies and our latest arrival – a precious red panda cub!

And that's a wrap...2018!

Watch our highlights from the year that was 2018, and everything you've helped us to achieve

We’ve contributed to conversation efforts in Aotearoa – hatching and releasing nine kōhanga kiwi to Motutapu Island, as well as breeding and releasing tuatara to Cuvier island, wētāpunga to The Noises islands and continuing to build a future for whio and pāteke with our friends at the Department of Conservation.

We’ve been carefully looking after a critically endangered colony of Chesterfield skinks, performing transmitter changes and vet checks for takahē and kākāpō in the wild – as well as supporting New Zealand sea lion research. Our dedicated and skilled Vet Department also treated a range of endangered Aotearoa wildlife this year – such as our VIP patient Kōmaru the kākāpō!

We’ve also contributed to vital Wild Work overseas in Africa, Asia and with our Pacific neighbours, and you can read more about all of the work YOU’RE helping to support here.

And there is SO much more! All of this great work couldn’t have been achieved without you – so thank you so much, we can’t wait to see you this summer!
