Mazda will continue to drive conservation and education at Auckland Zoo, having renewed its sponsorship of the not-for-profit organization.
The partnership includes three new, specially wrapped vehicles which will be used by the zoo team to help with day-to-day operations on site.
The new Mazda CX-5, Mazda6 Wagon and BT-50 will also work on field conservation initiatives in communities across New Zealand.
Mazda managing director David Hodge says Mazda New Zealand is passionate about doing its bit for the natural environment and is extremely proud of its long-standing partnership with Auckland Zoo.
“We are thrilled to extend our support of Auckland Zoo and are excited about getting on board with upcoming conservation projects in the zoo and wider community.

“As well as transporting some of our smaller exotic animal arrivals and departures to and from the airport, these Mazda vehicles play a vital role, assisting us in helping so much of our local wildlife. For instance, they enable our staff to transport kiwi, whio, pāteke, and wētāpunga that have all been bred at the Zoo to their release sites for their new life in the wild. They’re also used by a wide variety of our staff who conduct tens of thousands of hours of wild work around New Zealand.
On any given day, this can involve wildlife rescue, wild animal health checks, population surveys, species translocations and pest control that all help to protect some of our most threatened endemic wildlife,” says Mr Buley.
