Keeper Tommy assists the birth of our newest nyala calf!

Watch our ungulates team leader Tommy help nyala calf Tano to enter the world!  

Behind-the-scenes #keepercam footage managed to document the special moment, as nyala normally give birth overnight.

Once the ungulates team could see that Nyala Xolani was having difficulty delivering her calf, Tommy stepped in to assess the situation and assist with the final push.

Every day our keepers go above and beyond to ensure our wildlife receive the very best care, and as Tommy explains “that’s why we are here!”.
