Previously in our three-part series our team – and our orangutans – were heading to Auckland Airport to catch their flight to Orana Park in Christchurch.

Our senior primate keepers Amy, Craig and vet An made it to Christchuch but due to a thick blanket of fog around Christchurch Airport the scheduled cargo flight for our orangutans was cancelled later that evening - this led to a search for the next available flight that could accommodate three crates with three special Bornean orangutans inside!

Thankfully the amazing team at New Zealand Post came to the rescue and with a bit of kiwi ingenuity our orangutans were booked on their parcel carrier the following day!
