Tātaki Auckland Unlimited (Auckland Zoo and Western Springs Stadium), MOTAT and other Western Springs stakeholders are working with Auckland Transport to provide more parking spaces and improve accessibility and safety at all the car parks in the Western Springs precinct. On completion of an additional 155 new public spaces at MOTAT’s Aviation hall site, a modest $2 per hour parking charge (capped at $8) will be implemented at car parks at Auckland Zoo, outside Western Springs College and the new car park at MOTAT to cover the cost of ongoing maintenance of the car parks. Any surplus will go directly to MOTAT and Auckland Zoo to help support the great work of both our organisations.

On-street parking on Motions Road and Old Mill Road will remain free of charge and will be time-controlled in some areas to ensure regular turnover and parking availability for visitors to the precinct.

Public transport is currently half price (until 31 August 2022) and you can options for getting to Auckland Zoo on the Auckland Transport website.

Learn More About the Change

Paid parking is a Western Springs precinct-wide initiative to provide safer, more accessible and more available parking in our car parks so concessions are not available for MOTAT and Zoo members. However, the Zoo is conducting a full review of its membership pricing and will take parking fees into consideration. Any changes to membership pricing will be announced ahead of the introduction of paid parking.

Your birthday party package includes two complimentary whānau parking spaces. You can also pre-purchase additional parking for your guests. Our Experiences team will contact you before your event with all the details.
