We're brightening up your week with a red panda cub-date!

Our carnivore team recently took the opportunity to check and weigh the newest member of our red panda whānau while mum Khela left the nestbox to forage for food.

These #keepercams were taken on New Year's Day when the cub was only two-weeks old and weighed only 199 grams! As you can see, a cub's eyes will remain closed until they reach around 3 weeks of age, relying on their mum for milk and sustenance during this time.

We'll keep you updated on how the cub is progressing, including when their sex is determined. In the meantime, you can visit our red panda parents at the zoo this weekend.
