Bug Lab has been developed by New Zealand's world-famous museum, Te Papa, with the Academy Award© winning Weta Workshop.

Featuring giant scale bug models within four magical chambers, Bug Lab is a spectacularly immersive and interactive experience for all ages that offers visitors the unique opportunity to learn from the genius of bugs.

"Hosting an exhibition of this scale and significance is an exciting first for Auckland Zoo," says Zoo director, Jonathan Wilcken.

"Bug Lab will be housed in a special new multi-purpose exhibition space, and is going to offer Aucklanders and visitors to this city an extraordinary bugs-eye view of the world.  There's so much to celebrate, love, and learn from bugs; they outweigh and outnumber all other animals on Earth and are intimately and vitally connected to the health and survival of our environment and all other wildlife, and of course, ourselves."

Te Papa's CE, Geraint Martin describes Bug Lab as "a next level experience with a huge wow factor".

"We know how important science and technology education is for the future, and Bug Lab will get people excited about these subjects."

Co-creator Sir Richard Taylor from Weta Workshop, says Bug Lab is "an experience created by bugs to show humans their genius traits."

"For 450 million years, bugs have been getting smarter. From brain surgery to team work to the power of flight – they really can do it all. Now they're sharing their genius to help humans make the world a better place."

Full details about Bug Lab at Auckland Zoo, including early-bird ticket sale dates, will be announced in a few months' time.
