Yes. A dedicated Event Coordinator is assigned to each event. They are your point of contact for providing ideas, answering questions and looking after every detail to ensure the success of your event.

 

Depending on which venue you choose, the level of additional charges may change. Please see below for a list of the most common additional event-related costs. All prices are GST exclusive.

Additional Guests

If the number of guests exceeds entries included in the venue price, this will be charged at:

  1. Adults (15+yo)             $15.00+GST per person
  2. Children (4-14yo)        $10.00+GST per person
  3. Infants (0-3yo)            Free

Event Security

Zoo venues are all unique spaces. Therefore, specific and/or additional security may be required for your event. Additional security requirements are non-negotiable and will be set by Auckland Conventions.

If additional security is required, a minimum of four hours per event security staff member applies at $38.50+GST per hour, per event security staff.

Absolutely. We recommend meeting you for a site inspection to view the different areas of the Zoo and to discuss your requirements further. Site inspections are by appointment only, please contact the Team at Auckland Conventions at events@aucklandconventions.co.nz to arrange a suitable time.

Auckland Zoo has very strict Health & Safety guidelines and does not allow external companies to operate on our premises. Details of Auckland Zoo’s approved suppliers that can provide the above services can be provided.

Our contracted caterers provide all food consumed for functions. You may, however, supply your own wedding cake. The Auckland Conventions Team can provide details of our catering partners for you to discuss menu requirements with them directly.

We love wildlife! To ensure the welfare of Zoo wildlife at all times, the following items are STRICTLY PROHIBITED in the Zoo:

  • Sound Levels must NOT exceed 70 decibels at any time, this level is monitored during every event
  • NO animal themed hats or head decorations
  • NO smoke/haze/dry ice or haze machines
  • NO balloons, bikes, skateboards or rollerblades
  • NO drums, whistles or noisemakers
  • NO open flames

Yes. We have some great spots for ceremonies and receptions. The Zoo has a great advantage as a venue in Auckland as there is plenty for your guests to do in between the ceremony and reception, while you have your wedding photos taken. ​

Yes, absolutely. We are happy to arrange a time for your photographer to come in for a site inspection and view our beautiful Zoo!​ We also have a list of photographers who have worked weddings at Auckland Zoo and can help pick the perfect photo locations for lasting memories.

Once final numbers are advised, wristbands are allocated for each function. It is your responsibility to ensure your guests receive these and wear them as they enter the Zoo.

​If you prefer a we can also manage a guest list for wedding guests. Guests not on your guest list and not wearing a wristband on the day will need to pay standard admission prices at the ticket office to gain entry to Auckland Zoo.

Wristbands are valid for the Event Day only. They cannot be used for Zoo admission on another date, sold or transferred to another person.

For evening venue hire, the hire period is until midnight. We ask that bar close at 11.30pm, and all guests are to depart by midnight.

For daytime events, attendees are asked to park in the Auckland Zoo overflow carpark at TAPAC on 100 Motions Road which is a short walk from the Zoo.

Accessible car parking is available in the Motions Road carpark, and also by the main entrance of the Zoo, for vehicles displaying a current mobility parking permit.

Auckland Zoo is a NON-SMOKING venue; smoking is not permitted AT ANY TIME inside the venue.
