Additional charges

Depending on which venue you choose, the level of additional charges that apply may change. Please see below for a list of the most common additional event related costs. All prices are GST exclusive.

  • Additional guests
    • Will be charged if numbers exceed entries included in venue price.
    • Adults (15+) $15.00 per person, Children (4-14) $10.00 per person, Infants (0-3) free.
  • Event security
    • Evening venue hire includes 2 Auckland Zoo Keeper security in the venue hire fee. However certain venues require additional security due to the nature of the space or type of event. Additional security requirements are not negotiable and will be set by Auckland Zoo.
    • If additional security is required, a minimum of 3 hours per event security staff member applies.
    • $40.00 per hour per person.
  • Front of House supervisor
    • If required a minimum of 1 supervisor for the duration of the event. Minimum of 3 hours per supervisor.
    • $25.50 per hour per person.

Auckland Zoo has very strict Health & Safety guidelines and we do not allow external companies to operate on our premises. We have our approved suppliers that can provide the above services.

Our approved suppliers are Montana Catering, DJ4YOU, The Events Group, Events Auckland and Raj Tent Club. You can complete your experience with our special add-ons such as private guided walk or animal encounter conducted by our Zoo staff and Corporate Team Building activities that are conducted by our approved supplier – The Events Group.

Yes. We have some great spots for ceremonies and for receptions. The Zoo has a great advantage as a venue in Auckland as there is plenty for your guests to do in between the ceremony and reception, while you are having your photos taken.​

Unfortunately, no.  Our contracted caterers provide all food consumed for functions. However you may supply your own wedding cake.  Our functions team will provide you with the details of the catering partner(s) for your venue and you can discuss your menu requirements directly.​

Yes, a non-refundable deposit is required to confirm your booking. The deposit required is 50% of the venue hire fee. Our terms and conditions must be signed and returned at the time of confirming your booking.​

Yes, absolutely. We are happy to arrange a time for your photographer to come in for a site inspection and view our beautiful zoo!​ We also have a list of photographers who have worked weddings at Auckland Zoo and can help pick the perfect photo locations for lasting memories.

Once final numbers are advised, wristbands are allocated for each function. It is your responsibility to ensure your guests receive these and wear them as they enter the Zoo. If for some reason your guests don't have their wristband on the day, they will be required to pay the standard admission prices at the ticket office.​

​We can also manage a guest list for wedding guests; however guests not on your guest list will need to pay standard admission prices at the ticket office to gain entry to Auckland Zoo.

Wristbands are only allocated to a particular function on a certain day. They cannot be used for zoo admission on another date, sold or transferred to another person.

We recommend meeting you for a site inspection to view the different areas of the Zoo and to discuss your requirements further. Site inspections are by appointment only, please contact your Auckland Zoo event coordinator to arrange a suitable time.

Dependent on which venue you hire and the style of your event will depend on the event hire period. Evening venue hire is until midnight. Please consult with your Event Coordinator to determine the style and venue that will suit your requirements.
