Celebrate Wiki Whānau (Family Week) at Auckland Zoo

Throughout Wiki Whānau/Family Week, pick up a free family activity booklet on arrival and venture around the Zoo to get to know our animal families. At our Family Fun Zone at the band rotunda lawn area, all your family can participate in cool craft activities including creating art works so you can ‘leaf your mark’ on our giant family community art tree! You can also take a whānau photo at our Whānau selfie wall.

Weekends: live music and tattoo stations

Wiki Whānau weekends (12 -13 May and 19-20 May) will feature live performances by APRA award-winning children’s singer-songwriter Claudia Gunn, who’ll be performing her fabulous ‘Little Wild Music’ from 12.30 – 2.30pm daily. On 12 and 13 May, in celebration of National Sign Language Week, we’ll also have a sign-language interpreter supporting Claudia. In addition, if you and the children are keen on a physical momento of Wiki Whānau, head along to one of our tattoo stations to get a free air-brush animal tattoo.

As part of Wiki Whānau, Auckland Zoo is delighted to be celebrating the United Nation’s International Family Day (15 May).

We love that this year’s theme is ‘Families and inclusive societies’, which is exploring the role of families and family policies - promoting peace and inclusive societies for sustainable development, which we see as a great win for both people and wildlife! We look forward to seeing you during Wiki Whānau.
