What we do encompasses everything from the breeding of animals in the Zoo and conservation of species in the wild to education, research, advocacy and offering unique experiences that connect you with wildlife.
We contribute practical skills, veterinary expertise and funding to help protect and conserve endangered wildlife and wild places – here in New Zealand and overseas.
The fund was established by Auckland Zoo staff in 2000 to support conservation efforts in the wild, in New Zealand and overseas.
Funds are raised from fundraising events and initiatives, proceeds from conservation product purchases, visitor admissions, experiences, donations, and sponsorship.
Auckland Zoo and Rotoroa Island are working together to establish an important wildlife conservation sanctuary on Rotoroa Island in Auckland's Hauraki Gulf Marine Park.
We take our environmental responsibility seriously and want to lead by example. We're trying to reduce our footprint on the environment, developing an urban restoration programme, and reducing our palm oil consumption - and we want you to come with us on this journey!
We support our staff to develop and use their specialist skills and participate in field conservation initiatives. These can be projects led by Auckland Zoo or other conservation partners, in New Zealand or overseas.
There is always something new to discover at Auckland Zoo.
