Explore Auckland Zoo after dark!

Your Safari Night evening includes a classic Kiwi barbeque followed by a torch-lit adventure. 

Discover lions on the prowl, hippos looking for a late-night snack, nocturnal bats waking up, an elephant snacking on bamboo, or rhinos out in the cool of the evening. 

Stay over at the Old Elephant House and you'll wake with the animals and enjoy breakfast before heading home, to school or work - with all your memories and unique stories to share!

Helping animals in the wild

Auckland Zoo is involved in breeding, recovery and research programmes for many threatened and endangered native and exotic animals.  Your experience gives back! By going on a Safari Night, you contribute to helping us carry out this vital work. Along with our conservation work on site, through the Auckland Zoo Conservation Fund, we also support field conservation projects for endangered wildlife - both here in New Zealand and overseas.
