Safari Nights

Safari Nights

Walk, sleep and eat with the animals.

Safari Nights at Auckland Zoo is your chance to see your favourite animals in a whole new light. Whether you sleep over, stay for a barbecue, or just experience the guided night walk, we promise you a night to remember...

Click here for information about our upcoming small groups Safari Night (Tuesday 5 October) and our kids only DVD Safari Night (Wednesday 6 October)!

About Safari Nights

Your Safari Night guides will lead you on a torch-lit evening walk to see what the animals get up to after dark. In the Zoo at night, it's just YOU... and the animals... and your guide who'll give you a fascinating glimpse of what's going on.

You may also choose to sleep over at the Old Elephant House in the heart of the Zoo – a unique experience. Nicely tired after your night walk, you can lie back and enjoy the animal sounds as you nod off to sleep. In the morning, we'll serve you breakfast before you head home to tell your family and friends about your amazing night at the Zoo.

Helping Animals in the Wild

Auckland Zoo is involved in breeding and recovery and research programmes for many threatened and endangered native and exotic animals.

Your experience gives back

By going on a Safari Night, you contribute to helping us carry out this vital work. Along with our conservation work on site, through the Auckland Zoo Conservation Fund, we also support field conservation projects for endangered wildlife – both here in New Zealand and overseas.
