Conservation is at the heart of Auckland Zoo. Ask any staff member and they will tell you that what drives them is their passion for conservation, the ability to make a difference to wildlife and the environment, and to inspire others to do the same.

In the Zoo
Conservation - In the Zoo
What we do encompasses everything from the breeding of animals in the Zoo and conservation of species in the wild to education, research, advocacy and offering unique experiences that connect you with wildlife.

In the wild
Conservation - In the wild
We contribute practical skills, veterinary expertise and funding to help protect and conserve endangered wildlife and wild places - here in New Zealand and overseas.

Auckland Zoo Conservation Fund
Auckland Zoo Conservation Fund
The fund was established by Auckland Zoo staff in 2000 to support conservation efforts in the wild, in New Zealand and overseas.

Funds are raised from fundraising events and initiatives, proceeds from conservation product purchases, visitor admissions, donations, and sponsorship.

In the community and at home
Conservation in the community and at home
Here at Auckland Zoo we take our environmental responsibility seriously, and we want to lead by example.

We're working towards being sustainable by trying to reduce our footprint on the environment, developing an urban restoration programme, and reducing our palm oil consumption - and we want our visitors to come with us on this journey!
