Our Mission

- We will develop and implement exemplary practice in the intensive management of species we work with

Inspiring our community to value wildlife

Auckland Zoo visitors meet Burma- We will provide our visitors with immersive environments that give a sense of the species we hold and the habitats they live in

- We will engage visitors emotionally through experiences of wildlife that feel close and rare.

- We will expand our influence on the community by growing our visitor base

Building understanding of wildlife

Primary school students learn about bearded dragons- We will provide information, activities and experiences designed to improve understanding of wildlife

- We will use the Zoo, its people, exhibits and animals, to deliver targeted environmental education programmes

- We will engage in research aimed at improving the management of threatened species and environments

Galvanising action for wildlife

Zoo visitors plant native seedlings on World Environment Day- We will encourage the community to take actions that will reduce the impact of our lifestyles on threatened species and environments

- We will provide the community opportunities to be involved with, and contribute to, the work of the Zoo and efforts to conserve wildlife in natural environments

- We will form partnerships with, and work with organisations that are aligned with the Zoo's mission

Conserving wildlife in wild places
